Lance started working for
his Grandfather’s custom cabinet shop when he was 15 years
old to earn money to buy a car. His Grandfather owned
a custom cabinet shop with a 5 man crew. He enjoyed working
there so much during the summer that after he graduated
from school, he continued in the cabinet business. His
Uncle owned a nearby production cabinet shop with an 18
man crew. He would work for his Uncle when his Grandfather’s
shop slowed down.
After coming home from
the service in the early 70’s he worked for XA Cabinet
Corporation which was the largest production cabinet shop
in the Los Angeles area with over 430 workers. Lance worked
at XA Cabinet for almost 10 years and during that time
also did side jobs working toward owning and running his
own cabinet business.
In 1978 Lance passed his
contractors license test. He then opened his own shop
in 1980 where he successfully did business. Lance operated
his business in the same location for 24 years until he
retired. Upon his retirement in 2004 he moved to Brady,
Texas.
A little over a year after
Lance retired he became bored. As people in town learned
he did cabinet work they started asking him if he would
do jobs for them. After such a great response from the
people of Brady he decided to go into business again!
This time in the great
state of Texas!
